The Heirloom

Written by Tara Clark

A small little box

So tiny and sweet

Wrapped in a bow

So perfect and neat

What’s in the box

What can it be

The way to discover

Is to open and see

I’ve received a hint

From my loving Great Aunt

It’s special and bright

And bent in a slant

Within the confines

Of this mystery

Is a golden heirloom

My grandmothers you see

A gorgeous ring

That she always wore

Never took off

But is hers no more.

I wear it daily

A source of love

A beautiful reminder

Of my grandmother above
