His words pierced her heart like bullets.
Cruel, angry, hurtful.
She reeled back from the verbal barrage.
How had they reached this point?
What had sparked this flame of anger?
Words, untrue words, fingers pointed.
No she cried, you don’t understand.
I meant no harm, why am I blamed?
How to fix, apology not enough.
True feelings now known.
Their ties irrevocably broken.
No forgiveness forthcoming.
She does not need their approval.
She has her own power.
She stands all alone, on her own.
