“Join the Army and see the World”
Army strong, more than a slogan,
a secure grip, an extended hand,
I’d be someone, other than…
I would escape, not smother,
the cycle of abuse that befell my mother
and mother’s mother
Sergeant said, “pull over!”
There’s something for me to see,
him…
before I take my oath to serve.
He stood erect, pants
around his ankles…
a nauseous scent of musk
permeated my very being.
His salty essence, thick
and dry…
no matter what,
I wouldn’t cry.
A military purpose, I think not, why?
Army Strong…Army Wrong!
